Reference questions are probably the most interesting part of being a reference librarian and are what keep public service librarians at the public service desks rather than running for cover and becoming catalogers. Note for non-librarians: catalogers hide in back rooms and think up confusing subject headings and Dewey Decimal numbers for books so that people can't find things, which in turn gives reference librarians a raison d'etre.
